Area Law Enforcement
Roughly fifty cars have been covered with what seems to be human bodily fluid in the German town of Hanau near Frankfurt, according to police.
Automobiles, building surfaces and postal boxes were defaced, occasionally with prohibited symbols, they announced in a statement.
Law enforcement say they were contacted during the night on Wednesday night, when a man discovered that a car in the Lamboy area of Hanau had been marked with a reddish fluid.
The fluid had been placed in the form of a swastika, they stated.
Officers then located numerous other vandalized vehicles and residential walls in the surrounding area.
These symbols are illegal in Germany under laws banning the public exhibition of symbols from the Nazi era.
Law enforcement report early analysis indicate the liquid was likely blood from a person.
"There is still no indication as to its origin; investigators are not yet aware of any injuries in association with the incident," they added.
Municipal representatives said they were trying "to resolve the mystery" and have appealed to the community for tips.
A high-ranking representative stated the incident rendered him speechless and required to be solved quickly.
"This incident affects the very heart of Hanau and revives the trauma of the right-wing terrorist attack in 2020," he posted on social media, mentioning the death of nine individuals by a shooter aiming at people of immigrant origin in February 2020.
